Privacy Policy

The short version. We collect your name, email, a rough debt range, an income range, and whether you would consider the proposed program. We use it to measure demand and to contact you about LoanLoser. We do not sell it, we do not verify it, and we never ask for your Social Security number, financial documents, or payment details.
Who we are
LoanLoser ("we", "us") operates loanloser.org. You can reach us at hello@loanloser.org.
What we collect
When you join early access we collect only what you type into the form:
- Your name
- Your email address
- An approximate range for your student loan balance
- An approximate range for your annual income
- Whether you would consider the proposed repayment model
- The date and time you joined, and the page that referred you
The debt and income figures are ranges you select, not exact amounts, and they are self-reported. We do not verify them, and we do not check them against any outside source.
What we never collect
We do not ask for and will not accept: Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, bank account or card numbers, pay stubs, tax returns, loan statements, or any other financial document. We do not run credit checks and we do not perform identity verification. If you send us any of these by email, we will delete them.
Why we collect it
- To measure demand. We report aggregate, anonymized figures, such as how many people joined and the overall distribution of balances and incomes. Individual records are not shared.
- To contact you about the proposed program, including if it becomes real or if we abandon it.
- To prevent abuse, including duplicate and automated submissions.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it with lenders, servicers, refinancing companies, lead buyers, or advertisers.
We use service providers to run the site: Netlify hosts loanloser.org and stores early access submissions. If we send email updates, we use Beehiiv to deliver them. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
If we approach financial institutions with evidence of demand, we share aggregate figures only. We do not hand over your name, email, or individual responses.
How long we keep it
We keep early access records until the proposed program launches, is abandoned, or you ask us to delete yours, whichever comes first. If we abandon the program we will delete the list and say so.
How it is stored
Submissions are stored with our hosting provider and transmitted over HTTPS. Your email address is also stored as a one-way hash so we can prevent duplicate signups. No system is perfectly secure, which is one reason we deliberately do not collect sensitive identifiers.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@loanloser.org. We will act on deletion requests without asking you to justify them.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or similar state privacy laws, including the right to know what we hold, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies
We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may log standard request information for security and reliability.
Children
This site is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant and we have your email, we will tell you.
